1st PinoyBBDev Hackathon last Jan 21, 2012!!!!

No one can sum up the value of any event better than someone who has attended before. That is why I’m here to share with you my fun and memorable experience during the PinoyBBDev Hackathon event held last January 21, 2012.

The event started around 10am and lasted till 7pm. There were around 15 attendees, some were first timers while the rest were alumni. All of them are developers and they’re all as committed to the BlackBerry® Webworks HTML 5 as you are.

John G. Bibal II kicked off the event by giving an introduction and reiterating the event’s objectives and goals. After which, the developers started working on their apps and consulted with the SMEs namely John, Pete, Oyo, and Jayjay from time to time.

The group had a successful meet-up last August 23rd held at Chowking Villar St. Makati with 25 attendees.

First on the agenda was the Developer Challenge and the incentive that the group members can avail by submitting an app for the challenge, as discussed by John. At most 30 members will have a chance to get a free pass to the free BlackBerry DevCon Asia 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand this December 7-8. We will be posting a separate article about this.

John also talked about the newest updates on the BlackBerry development including OS7 and its new features and supporting devices, particularly the Bold 9900; and finally the BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform.

I, othe other hand, talked about the relaunching of the pinoyBBdev blogsite. For those who haven’t signed up yet, please signup HERE. To all members from the old pinoyBBdev site, we apologize we are not able to save your accounts, so we encourage you to sign up again. I also discussed the features and had a demo of the BlackBerry PlayBook, which was recently released here in the Philippines.

We closed the meet-up with a discussion regarding the group committees, which will help in contents management and organizing events. To anyone who are interested to be part of any of these committees, please send us an email at pinoybbdevmgr@pinoybbdev.com. And of course the raffle of BlackBerry merchandise from RIM, and other items from Novare Technologies.
